PEP TALK
Thanksgiving, no doubt, is my favorite holiday. Unlike Christmas, Thanksgiving has not been over-commercialized. Unlike Halloween, there are not those dark, sinister overtones. Unlike the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving is weatherproof. It doesn’t matter if it rains or not. In fact, if it rains, all the better, because it gives me an excuse to linger a little longer at the dinner table.
There’s a purity and a beauty in the simplicity of this holiday. I believe that on Thanksgiving, we are closer to being in the center of God’s will than on any other day of the year. In I Thessalonians 5:18, the Apostle Paul writes, “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
What is God’s will? God’s will is that we give thanks in everything. What I love is that on Thanksgiving, many Christian homes are doing just that. They are giving thanks. And somehow it seems to move us closer to the center of God’s will.
I know that for some of you, Thanksgiving may be a difficult day because of some loss or difficulty you are going through. If you want to experience God’s supernatural joy and peace, why not take a risk and give thanks to the LORD. You just might experience a miracle in your life. See ya Sunday!

FOOD PANTRY
Recently we have began collecting food items to stock the newly created Food Pantry at Crossroads. (Cleaning out a closet is always fun!) In the weeks to come, we will be giving more details. If you would like to give, contact Scott Wand (835-3734) for a list of needed items.

THE SAMARITAN PROJECT
The Samaritan Project
We need your help! As the youth prepare for our summer mission trip to Beautiful Feet, we have been asked to bring donated clothes with us. UPS has offered to ship what we are able to collect (go “Brown” go) to the homeless shelter in Fort Worth, TX.
Robin and I have been filling bags to donate as we change over from summer to winter clothes. If you could join us in this process, we would appreciate it.
We are not ready to accept donations yet, but wanted to put the thought into your mind as the seasons change.

MISSIONARY FOCUS FOR NOVEMBER
Missionary Focus for November:
Kristen Fry
Kristen is a missionary at Dwelling Places in Kampala, Uganda, Africa. Dwelling Places is an orphanage that is home to about 250 children. Kristen works under a missionary group called Africa Inland Mission (AIM). She so loves the many children that find their way to Dwelling Places. Some of them are picked up wandering on the sides of the roads of Uganda. She always signs her newsletters with, “Until every child has a chest to rest his head on.” and that truly is her heart! Recently, there have been accusations made against them that they have brought 40 children from an outside region to use for child labor and prostitution. Pray that these accusations will be proven false and that the needs of the children will be met.
FROM CHRIS' CORNER
The words of this song have really been speaking to me lately. How amazing it is to know that God remembers His people! That thought brings such encouragement in difficult times. God remembers us!!!
Christmas is right around the corner and the choir is beginning to work on music for the Christmas season. This is a perfect time to come out and get involved in worship ministry. I hope to see you on Tuesday nights very soon!
In Christ Alone,
Chris Darling
P.S. – There will be no solo ministry meetings in November and December. We will start back up in January!

MINISTRY NOTES FROM LEW
There is a question that many people are asking with more and more frequency and I love it!! The question is: “Where can I help?”
Well, I’m so glad you asked. The holidays are upon us and there are many opportunities to serve the Lord. “When Love Came Down” is a production from Proclaim Ministries that utilizes puppets and actors to creatively tell the story of Jesus. Over 2000 people will see this production. Before every show is a Pre-show where people paint faces, lead out in toy hand bells and just have fun. There is a need for volunteers in this area.
We always need people to assist in seating families during the Christmas Eve Service. And finally, we are looking for people (male or female) to assist with a parking team to help people find parking and make the transition between services go smoothly outside.
If you are wanting to help, please contact me.
Thanks and God Bless.
KIDSROAD MINISTRIES
The December theme: Giving
Scripture verse: Romans 6:23—“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This month is a good month to focus on family. We will be collecting mittens for the homeless—to teach that it is good to give. The mittens can be new or used, in good condition. Please bring them to the Education Building or Administration Building and place them in the boxes that we have provided. They will be taken to the Palmetto House for distribution.
Christmas Caroling...Dec. 6th, 9:30-11:30AM. K5–5th graders needs to meet at the church at 9:30AM so that we can travel to take our annual trip to the nursing home where we will carol through the hallways and in their recreation room. We will then return for pizza and a movie. Sign up online to go. Drivers are needed to help transport the children. Please sign up to help.
Our normal Family Movie Night is cancelled for December so that we can go to Proclaim Ministry’s “When Love Comes Down”. Please join us at 7PM in the Auditorium. Bring a friend.
And then don’t forget to join us on December 21st at 5PM for “A Mouse’s Tale” performed by our 4 and 5 year olds. Thank you to the team of volunteers who have worked so hard with our little ones! (Renee Connor, Donna Perry, Cameron Satterfield, Sarah Coffman, Ashley VanWagner, Trevor Ford, Teresa Wrenn and Autumn Sasser)
Lastly, join us on December 24th at 6PM for our annual Christmas Eve Service. Following the service, walk down the boardwalk and see (and touch) the live nativity.
DEBI'S DOODLES
This month’s theme for KidsRoad Ministries is “Thankful.” All of the children’s programs in Preschool, Children, Oaks, Awana, and Blast and Bounce participate in our theme and in the learning of the Scripture verse. For this month, our Scripture verse is from 1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
This is a verse I am holding onto this month. It is an important one to teach and live out for our children.
To show our thankfulness for what God has given us this month, we will continue to offer our children the opportunity to give back to God out of our bounty. Each week, your child can give to the Lord a portion of allowance, birthday money, etc. There is an offering box in the foyer of the Administration/Children’s Bldg. by the greeter desk. On November 16th, your child can drop off their Christmas Shoeboxes on the stage in the Auditorium.
Also on November 16th, your child can help “the least of these” by participating in the canned food drive. Watch your mailbox for more details on what your family can do to help.
